History Of The Office

Then

Our building has been a part of Springfield for over 100 years and its interesting history is showcased in our waiting room

Now

Dr. Mike Liebentritt founded Liebentritt Family Dentistry in Springfield in 1974. The building is one of Peter Kiewit’s first buildings, located on Main Street in the heart of downtown Springfield.
Springfield officially became a town in 1882. The building we practice out of was one was of the town’s first, and it’s history adds character and charm.
In 1884 William Kieck opened a general store in the building we practice out of now on the Southwest corner of 2nd and Main in downtown Springfield.
Appliances and hardware were sold from the upper building and groceries were sold out of the lower portion. One of the first gas pumps in town was on the corner.
In both 1905 and 1907 two disastrous fires swept through the store, causing almost total destruction.
In 1948, Art Adair and Bob Shepler purchased the Kieck’s store in Springfield.
Dr. Mike Liebentritt started his dental practice in Springfield in 1974 across the street from our current office which he purchased in 1982. Dr. Matt joined his father’s practice in 1997. The two enjoyed practicing dentistry together for 14 years.
